Ceramides
What is it?
Ceramides are lipid molecules that make up a major component of the skin's natural barrier, helping to hold skin cells together in the stratum corneum and prevent moisture loss.
What does it do?
Commonly used in barrier-repair moisturizers to help restore skin hydration, reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and support skin recovery after barrier disruption; randomized trials of ceramide-containing lipid-complex formulations show measurable improvements in hydration, TEWL and post-procedure skin recovery.
Who may benefit?
- May help with: Sensitivity & Barrier Damage
How to use
Typically formulated at 0.1%-5% as part of a lipid-complex blend.
