Coco-Glucoside

What is it?

Coco-Glucoside is a mild, coconut-derived surfactant belonging to the alkyl glucoside family, widely used in cleansers and shampoos marketed as gentle or hypoallergenic.

What does it do?

Commonly used as a gentle, sulfate-free cleansing surfactant. A 2024 analysis found coco-glucoside was the most frequently used alkyl glucoside in shampoos/body cleansers marketed as hypoallergenic or for sensitive skin, but flagged alkyl glucosides as known, if uncommon, contact allergens worth patch-testing awareness despite their mild reputation.
