Green Tea Extract

What is it?

Green tea extract is rich in catechins (including EGCG), polyphenol antioxidants used topically for their anti-inflammatory and photoprotective properties.

What does it do?

Commonly used as an antioxidant to help protect skin from UV-induced damage and support sebum control. A randomized controlled trial found green tea catechins protected the dermal extracellular matrix from UV-induced degradation, and a separate RCT found an EGCG-containing moisturizer improved sebum control in seborrheic skin.
