Honey

INCI: Mel Extract

What is it?

Natural honey, used in skincare for its humectant, wound-healing and mild antimicrobial properties, particularly in cleansers and masks.

What does it do?

According to PubMed, a systematic review of 9 randomized controlled trials comparing honey dressings to silver sulfadiazine for burn wounds found honey significantly reduced healing time (mean difference -5.76 days) and was more than twice as likely to render infected wounds sterile -- strong, real clinical-trial evidence for honey's wound-care properties, from burn-care research rather than cosmetic skincare specifically.
