Macadamia Oil
INCI: Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil
What is it?
A fatty-acid-rich emollient oil pressed from macadamia nuts, valued in skincare for its palmitoleic-acid content, which closely resembles the skin's own sebum.
What does it do?
According to PubMed, a 2026 compositional analysis of macadamia oils from 15 cultivars found oleic acid (56.7-62.8%) and palmitoleic acid (12.2-18.7%) as the dominant fatty acids, with antioxidant capacity correlating strongly to polyphenol, squalene and tocopherol content -- real fatty-acid-composition and antioxidant-capacity evidence, not a controlled skin-efficacy trial.
