Matrixyl 3000 component

INCI: Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4

What is it?

A signal peptide from the widely used "Matrixyl" peptide family, marketed to support collagen signalling and reduce the visible appearance of wrinkles.

What does it do?

According to PubMed, a 2025 study developed a glycyrrhizic-acid-based ionic-liquid nanomicelle delivery system to improve skin permeation of palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 (PAL-4), finding that in cellular and animal photoaging models the delivered peptide boosted collagen and hyaluronic acid regeneration, reduced inflammation and apoptosis, and lessened skin wrinkles while improving elasticity (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1002/advs.202412581). This is real but preclinical (cell- and animal-model) evidence centered on a delivery-system innovation rather than a human clinical trial of the peptide alone.
