According to PubMed, a comparative split-face pilot study after ablative fractional CO2 laser resurfacing found white petrolatum (combined with spring thermal water) performed as a reliable, biocompatible primary wound dressing, though a newer film-forming gel formula showed better performance on several clinical parameters during the earliest, most delicate healing phase.
