Propolis (Bee Propolis)

INCI: Propolis Extract

What is it?

A resinous substance bees produce from plant compounds, used in skincare for its antimicrobial and wound-healing properties.

What does it do?

According to PubMed, a 2026 study testing propolis (combined with birch bark) extracts in hydrogel and bigel formulations found real wound-healing improvement in keratinocyte cell lines from both healthy donors and epidermolysis bullosa patients, with no cytotoxicity observed -- real cell-model evidence for propolis's wound-repair properties, from specialized skin-disease research rather than a general cosmetic efficacy trial.
