Rosewater

What is it?

Rosewater is a hydrosol distilled from Rosa damascena (or related rose species) petals, traditionally used in skincare to hydrate and soothe skin.

What does it do?

Commonly used as a soothing, hydrating toner ingredient. An animal-model study found rose oil (from the same source plant genus as rosewater) protected against UVB-induced oxidative damage and photoaging by modulating inflammatory signaling pathways, though direct human clinical efficacy data for rosewater itself is limited.
