Sweet Almond Oil

INCI: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil

What is it?

An emollient oil pressed from almonds, used in skincare for softening and antioxidant support.

What does it do?

According to PubMed, a randomized controlled trial found daily ORAL almond consumption increased resistance to UVB-induced erythema (a higher minimal erythema dose) in healthy women over 12 weeks, though it found no measurable difference in skin roughness, melanin, hydration or sebum between groups -- the trial itself tested oral consumption, not topical application; the same paper's introduction cites separate in vitro/in vivo evidence for topical almond oil reducing UVB-induced photoaging, but that evidence was not the subject of this trial.
