Vitamin C
What is it?
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid and its more stable ester derivatives) is an antioxidant widely used in skincare for its brightening and photoprotective-support properties.
What does it do?
Commonly used as an antioxidant to help defend skin against UV and environmental oxidative stress and support a more even skin tone; stabilized ester derivatives such as tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate are used to improve formulation stability and skin penetration.
How to use
Typically formulated at 5%-20% for L-ascorbic acid; lower concentrations for stabilized esters.
