Zinc Salicylate

What is it?

Zinc Salicylate is a zinc salt of salicylic acid, combining the sebum-regulating properties of zinc with the exfoliating, anti-inflammatory properties of salicylic acid in a single compound.

What does it do?

Commonly used in acne-focused formulations to combine zinc's and salicylic acid's established individual benefits. No dedicated clinical study of the combined zinc salicylate compound itself was found; the established real evidence for each individual component is strong — a systematic review/meta-analysis found zinc treatment significantly improves acne, and salicylic acid has real RCT evidence for acne treatment (see the separately catalogued Salicylic Acid and Zinc entries) — but this is component-level evidence, not compound-specific data.
