What is it?

Pomegranate extract is a fruit-derived antioxidant ingredient rich in polyphenols, including ellagic acid, used in skincare for its antioxidant, anti-photoaging and skin-brightening properties.

What does it do?

Commonly used as an antioxidant to help protect skin from environmental and UV-induced oxidative stress. A review of ellagic acid (a key pomegranate polyphenol) found evidence for skin depigmentation, antioxidant, anti-photoaging and anti-inflammatory effects, and an in vitro/in vivo study on a related polyphenol-rich fruit extract found real photoprotective and antioxidant effects.
