Ingredients
Not inherently. Parabens are preservatives, sulfates are cleansing agents — both are generally considered safe at the concentrations used in cosmetics by major regulatory reviews, though some people are sensitive to them or simply prefer to avoid them. There's a lot of marketing doing the heavy lifting around "paraben-free" and "sulfate-free" labels — the absence of either doesn't automatically make a product better. Plenty of SA brands now offer paraben- and sulfate-free alternatives if you'd rather steer clear.
