  Commonly used, typically blended with other ceramide species, cholesterol and fatty acids, in barrier-repair moisturizers. A split-face randomized trial testing a ceramide/cholesterol/fatty-acid lipid complex (of which Ceramide NP is a representative component species) found reduced transepidermal water loss and erythema after microneedling.

  Commonly used to support skin barrier hydration, reduce irritation and promote wound healing after procedures such as laser treatment or microneedling. Reviewed clinical and in-vitro evidence describes barrier-strengthening and re-epithelialization benefits, including in atopic dermatitis and postprocedure wound care.

• Hemi-Squalane
  Limited evidence

  Commonly used as a lightweight emollient and occlusive to help reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and improve skin feel, functioning similarly to squalane but with a smaller molecule size for faster absorption. No peer-reviewed clinical trial evaluating hemi-squalane specifically on human skin was found; its use is well documented in cosmetic-ingredient reference databases and formulation literature rather than controlled clinical studies.

• CoQ10
  Limited evidence

  Commonly used as an antioxidant to help defend skin against oxidative stress associated with aging. Reviewed evidence describes CoQ10's role in supporting skin's natural antioxidant defenses, though dedicated large-scale human efficacy trials for topical CoQ10 used alone remain limited.
